The second phase of Xining Airport refers to the expansion project of Xining Caojiapu International Airport, the main international airport in Xining, Qinghai Province. The project started in 2012 and was completed in 2015, with a total investment of about 3 billion yuan.

The expansion project of the second phase of Xining Airport mainly includes the construction of terminal, runway, apron and supporting facilities. The new terminal covers an area of 104,000 square meters, and the construction area is 86,000 square meters, more than double the area of the original terminal. The design of the new terminal fully considers the geographical characteristics of Qinghai province and Tibetan cultural elements, and integrates the styling and decoration of Tibetan culture. At the same time, the new terminal has also introduced modern facilities and technology to provide more convenient services, such as self-service check-in and self-service consignment.

The expanded Xining Airport has also built a new runway with a length of 2,600 meters and a width of 45 meters to meet the needs of large aircraft. At the same time, the new apron can accommodate 12 aircraft, double the capacity of the original apron. In addition, the airport has added related facilities, such as a new aviation fuel depot, power distribution equipment and communication equipment.

The expansion project of the second phase of Xining Airport not only improves the comprehensive service capacity of the airport, but also creates better conditions for the aviation development of Qinghai Province.
